Celebrate International Workers Day 2018
with Freedom Road Socialist Organization
All around the world, workers are in struggle against the billionaire class that exploits us. All over the world, workers are in the lead of the movements of the oppressed nations that face the same billionaires.
Every day, we fight for better wages, for safe working conditions, to secure our union rights. We fight to defend our democratic rights to organize. We fight to end racist national oppression of the Black, Chicano, and Native people, as well as the immigrants, Arabs, Asians, and Latinos in the U.S. We fight for women’s liberation. We fight for LGBTQ liberation. We fight to stop environmental destruction. And we fight toend the wars that our rulers wage on workers and oppressed nations around the world.
On May Day, we remember that all these things we fight for are possible if the workers would only take power.
Join us this year with our special guest, Raymond “Mong” Palatino, a journalist, youth leader, and former congressman from the Philippines. He will speak on behalf of the delegation of the Stop-The-Killing Campaign, opposing the violent repression of the US backed Duterte government in the Philippines that has killed upwards of 20,000 people, including community and union leaders, as well as countless victims of a war on drug addicts. Mong will also speak for the Kilusang Mayo Uno/May First Movement, the leading militant union of the workers of the Philippines. On May 1st, we'll place a plaque from the KMU on the Haymarket Memorial. The KMU representative was prevented from entering the U.S. for the ceremony by the Duterte regime's repression.
Other speakers will include Frank Chapman from Freedom Road Socialist Organization; Maria Moreno, Financial Secretary of the Chicago Teachers Union; Daniel Ginsberg, union steward in Teamsters Local 705, and Steering Committee member, Teamsters for a Democratic Union; and Byron Sigcho of the Pilsen Alliance.
