Over the past decade, mental health funding has been slashed again and again by the State of Illinois. For people living with mental illness, particularly those on Medicaid, this means that the care that helps us live well -- from medication to therapy -- is out of reach.
On October 19th, Members of ONE Northside's mental health justice team will demand that HFS and Governor Rauner do the right thing, and raise the reimbursement rates for community mental health care providers!
Mental health providers are forced to work with less money as costs rise while serving a growing population of people on Medicaid living with mental illness in Illinois.
Though provisions in a consent decree mandate this raise are supposed to be announced by the day of our press event.
The instability this causes is painful. Providers who we've had relationships with for decades leave the field, programs close, and people living with mental illness suffer.
The reimbursement rate for community mental health providers has been raised only ONCE in twelve years. HFS controls these rates and continues to allow people living with mental illness using Medicaid, and their community mental health providers, to suffer.
For people living with mental illness to have access to quality, continuous services, community mental health providers who accept Medicaid need a raise!
Join us on October 19th to tell HFS and Rauner-Raise our Rates!
